CHOQUEQUIRAO 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

The Archaeological Park of Choquequirao is located at 3,050 meters above sea level on the top of a mountain and on the slopes of the snow-capped Salkantay, and is considered the last Inca bastion that protects with jealousy: temples, squares, sacred enclosures, terraces, also housing one of the most beautiful and fascinating landscapes in the world, the walk to Choquequirao,  it is a quiet, challenging and fantastically challenging adventure.

The tour starts a day before coordination of the schedule with the passengers to provide them with a breifing or information about the route with the recommendations and suggestions, this information will be provided by the guide who  will accompany them on their adventure to Choquequirao.

ITINERARY

Our tour starts very early in the morning at 4:00 a.m. with the pick up from your respective hotel and then we go in a tourist transport for approximately 3 hours to the district of Cachora where we will enjoy breakfast and meet to introduce the team of chefs and muleteers who will accompany us on our adventure,  we will start our walk of 3 hours approximately downhill from Capuliyoc which is at 2911 masl, until we reach Chikiska which is at 1893 masl, where we will be waiting for us with a delicious lunch, in the path of our walk on this first day we will enjoy stunning views of the Apurimac canyon until we reach Rosalina Beach which is located at 1,550 masl next to the Apurimac River,  place where it will be our first camp and we will spend the night, where we will have the comforting dinner and rest to continue the  next day.

After breakfast, we will continue with our adventure and on this most challenging and rewarding day, we will start crossing the suspension bridge over the Apurimac canyon, where we will begin to ascend cuesta arriva since this section is considered of very high level and difficult approximately 04 hours until we reach Marampata which is at 2911 masl,  place where we will have lunch and have a short rest, on the way, we will have the opportunity to see orchids, wild flowers and several species of birds.

After the comforting lunch we will resume our walk that will be of moderate level of 2 hours approximately until we reach our destination which is Choquequirao which is located at 3030 masl, Place where we will have dinner and will be our second camp that is located next to the archaeological site of Choquequirao. Place where we will have the freedom to visit this mysterious place at the time you want and as many times as you want, either to enjoy the sunset, the sunrise or simply to enjoy a little tranquility.

This day is the most important and expected by visitors because we will know one of the most impressive places that is Choquequirao – Golden cradle also called the twin sister of Machu Picchu, we will tour each of the archaeological sectors explaining the history and importance of the site, then we will return to the camp to eat a delicious lunch prepared by our chef.

After lunch we will continue discovering Choquequirao visiting the terraces of the restored flames, Casa del Inca, Main Temple , Water Temple, Platform of sacrifices and rituals, places where we will have time to photograph and enjoy the natural and cultural landscape of the site.

This day our camp will also be in the same place, next to the archaeological center of Choquequirao where we will have dinner and spend the night.

After waking up for the second time in this magical place and having had a delicious breakfast we will start our way back that will be much easier and quieter until we reach Marampata and then start descending to Santa Rosa where we will have lunch on the banks of the Apurimac River that is 1500 meters above sea level.

After lunch we will continue with our walk for approximately two hours until we reach Chiquisca which is located at 1,893 meters above sea level, where we will have dinner and it will be our last camp to spend the night.

On our last day of adventure, we will get up very early to have breakfast and prepare for our last 4-hour hike uphill where we will enjoy the incredible views of the Apurimac Canyon again until we reach Capuliyoc, where we will have lunch and say goodbye to our team of chefs and porters who accompanied us on this adventure.

After a well-deserved rest and lunch we will take our private transport and start our return trip to the city Cusco.
