CULTURAL TOURIST BANNERS

Cultural tourism in Peru has Machu Picchu as its maximum banner, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and elected in 2007 one of the Seven New Wonders of the World. The magnificent Inca citadel, considered one of the most important tourist attractions on the planet, has been awarded as Best World Tourist Attraction in the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 editions of the World Travel Awards.

Next to Machu Picchu there are hundreds of archaeological attractions distributed not only in the Cusco region, where the archaeological parks of Sacsayhuamán, Ollantaytambo, Pisac, Choquequirao, the Baroque Route, among others, but also in other regions such as Puno (Sillustani), Tacna (petroglyphs of Miculla), Moquegua (Cerro Baúl), Ica (lines and geoglyphs of Nasca and Palpa, which are World Heritage),  Áncash (archaeological site Chavín de Huántar), Lambayeque (Ruta Moche), La Libertad (Chan Chan, El Brujo, huacas del Sol y la Luna), Huánuco (Kotosh), Ayacucho (Ciudad Wari), Lima (Ciudad Sagrada de Caral), to name the best known.
